Socrata’s products supported publishing, exploring, analyzing, and communicating public data, but the experience between those products was often where customers carried the most complexity.

SOCRATA
Turning a suite of open-data products into a more connected platform for public-sector teams and the people they serve.
Research and product work across the portfolio revealed recurring jobs, handoffs, and gaps. Government program scenarios made it possible to see the suite as one end-to-end service rather than a collection of screens.
Design the connective tissue: shared patterns, clearer transitions, and product concepts organized around the customer’s work instead of internal product boundaries.
I led and worked hands-on with product designers while partnering with product and engineering directors, bringing research, system thinking, and delivery decisions into the same conversation.
The portfolio moved toward a more coherent platform model, creating a stronger basis for product planning, design-system work, and later integration with Tyler Technologies.
The experience of a platform lives between its products as much as inside them.

The story is in place. These are the most useful original artifacts to bring in next.
