Working in groups under the guidance of Studio Lust, a design studio (that recently closed it's doors) in the Netherlands, we explored a 43-minute conversation between John Cage and Morton Feldman on process. We then had our own converation on the topic and translated the outcome into a map of said conversation... very meta yes.
My personal experience was highly negative. I found myself embarrassed at how much I had been speaking in the conversation vs. listening. That led my to a harsh self-critical response to the process. I wrote out my emotions into a narrative written out as a stream of conciousness. It was highly negative and I closed those feelings after the project by binding the book closed with a piece of cardboard. I didn't reopen and review it until 2022 while reflecting on the project during therapy. Interesting to now share back out to the world.
